Rising to the east of the pass, the Kleine Pal was initially in Italian hands.
In an attack on the Kleiner Pal the Austro-Hungarian troops conquered parts of the vast labyrinthine summit plateau into the possession of Austria-Hungary. As a consequence, both sides expanded and strengthened their positions until some were in hand-grenade throwing range of each other.
In the sector Kl. Pal of the open-air museum, more than 70 historical objects have been made accessible again, now offering a direct confrontation with this part of history.
